Women’s Health Magazine Feature: Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Women’s Health Magazine Feature: Reclaimed Wood Furniture

We were featured in Women’s Health Magazine in an editorial focused on brands who offer sustainable products for well-designed, thoughtful, values-driven spaces.

They highlighted how we build custom reclaimed wood furniture that prioritizes sustainability.

The feature touched on something we’ve always paid attention to: making furniture in a way that supports intentional choices in our homes and businesses.

A Grounded Furniture-Making Process

Every piece we build starts with sustainable materials. We work with reclaimed wood, chosen for its strength, character, and ability to take on a second life.

And rather than forcing uniformity across all of our designs, we invite the history, natural variation and imperfections of the reclaimed wood to guide the result. This takes a level of skill and experience from our team to do well.

Our process is small-batch and made-to-order. This gives you freedom to design your ideal wood furniture, and allows us to focus on precision and quality in a way that’s not possible at scale.  Our approach to joinery, proportions, and finishes is all considered for the multi-generational lifetime of your furniture.

Wood Furniture with Sustainability Built-In

The Women’s Health feature explored how the spaces we live in can reflect both well-being and personal values, as awareness and a desire for sustainable furniture increases.

That same awareness is built into how we operate. And always has been. Reclaimed wood has always been a part of The Kase Custom Story. From day one, we chose to source reclaimed wood to reduce the waste in our landfills and prevent deforestation.

It also ensures that no two pieces are exactly alike, with each piece holding its own history and character.

Reclaimed wood furniture, in this sense, is more than beauty and function. It’s a considered choice to support the environment it lives in (your home and business), the one it comes from (its first life), and responsible business practices.

Handcrafted Wood Furniture Designed for Durability

We build pieces to be used. Daily, freely, without overthinking it. All of our handcrafted wood furniture is meant to hold up to your real life. Morning coffee before the swirl of the day. Lingering dinners long past bedtime. And the project you thought you’d finish weeks ago.

In thinking about this feature, we realized side tables and nightstands do a lot more than they get credit for. They’re always within reach, constantly in use, and expected to work without drawing attention to themselves. It makes us appreciate our workhorse side tables even more.

And while our side tables were highlighted, our approach is true for every design, like our bestselling bar and counter height tables.

Sustainable Wood Furniture… Worth the Investment?

Yes, of course, we’re honored to have been recognized, but that’s not what makes our furniture worth bringing into your space.

We’re after how a piece fits your style, your space, and holds up to the way you actually live.

When you invest in handcrafted wood furniture, you’re not picking the closest fit from a warehouse of standard sizes, hoping it lasts beyond next year. You’re customizing dimensions and details for a piece designed to belong for decades to come.

A note on durability:

Reclaimed wood’s durability comes from its years (and sometimes decades) of drying out. When new wood is harvested, it’s not uncommon to be cut before it reaches full maturity. This can lead to warping and/or cracking as it dries if not properly treated and maintained.

In short, our furniture is built to hold up for a lifetime.

And lastly, ordering from a small business means your furniture isn’t moving through a production line. It’s built in our Arizona-based shop, by hand, with personal attention at every stage. There’s accountability in the process and real people behind the work.

Being featured by Women’s Health Magazine reflects the work we’ve been committed to from the start. And it’s how we’ll keep building.
