Bar Height Tables, Built Right: What to Know

A bar height table seems like a simple ask at first. ...until you try to find one that’s made well, sized right, and available in a design and finish color you love. When these details line up, it makes all the difference in the look and feel of your space.
That's what makes our Sequoia Bar Height Table a bestselling piece. We’ve heard it more than once: customers purchase mass-produced furniture, only to later wish they'd gone for the quality of ours from the beginning. One small business owner recently replaced all his previous tables with our Sequoia after a series of wobbly disappointments. (We’ve now had the pleasure of furnishing multiple of his shop locations!)
If you’re searching for your perfect bar height table, here’s some good-to-knows before you buy. (And why we build ours the way we do.)
What is a Bar Height Table?
In the world of table heights, there are three standards:
-
Dining height = 30 inches
-
Counter height = 36 inches
-
Bar height (also referred to as high top) = 42 inches
All of our bar tables are 42" high, unless you request otherwise. (The beauty of custom!)
Note: This makes our high top tables perfect for bar stools around 30" tall, which keeps proportions comfortable and consistent.

There’s something effortlessly social about a bar height table. It offers a fresh energy and flow to gathering spaces, whether pulling up a stool or just leaning in. We’ve built our high top table for tasting rooms, hotel lobbies, speakeasies, breweries, golf simulation rooms, coffee shops, break rooms, and countless homes, vacation homes and rental properties. We always love the seeing the creative ways our customers use this one.
We've also seen Sequoia work beautifully in small spaces where every inch counts, and in restaurants where height variation livens up the rhythm of guest seating.
Bonus: Being popular for in-home bars, wine tasting rooms and basement hangout spaces, we've learned it's helpful to note our tabletops are sanded to smooth perfection for a flat, even surface for glasses and game-playing.
What Makes Ours Different?
There’s no shortage of bar table options, especially in these days of fast furniture (more on that later), but most of them aren’t built to last. Ours are.
Here’s how we do it differently, and why it matters:
Solid, Reclaimed Wood
We use real, reclaimed wood. The kind with grain, texture, and history, and it shows up in every piece we make. You won’t find engineered or weak wood in any of our handmade reclaimed wood furniture.
Our materials list is short and simple on purpose: just 6–8 responsibly sourced elements. Because quality starts with what you leave out.
Built by Hand Start to Finish
Every bar table we make is hand built by real humans in our Arizona shop. We cut, prep, build, and finish each one. (And often by the same person from start to finish. This isn’t an assembly line handoff situation either.)
This level of attention and quality matters especially at bar height, where any wobble or weak spot is amplified. Our design is reinforced where it counts so you have a sturdy table on Day 1 and Day 3,650.
Made to Fit Your Space
We hear versions of this all the time:
“I kept finding tables that were close to what I wanted, but not quite right” and “I searched, and I searched and then found Kase Custom, and finally got my ideal table.”
This is precisely why we offer customizations on all of our furniture. You get to choose the design, length, depth, and finish color (and add-ons like power grommets and caster wheels on some designs!) that fit your unique space and vision.
Whether it’s for a narrow kitchen (fun fact: our bar height table design is often used as a reclaimed wood kitchen island), an open-concept dining room, or a community table in a bar or restaurant. Our extensive customizations allow you to get it just right, without settling.

Finding the Right Size
A quick guide to help you nail your perfect fit:
Bar Table Height
All Kase Custom bar height tables are 42-inches tall (unless otherwise requested).
Seating Height
Best paired with bar-height chairs or stools, approximately 30" tall.
Ideal Length for Seating
- 30"-42" good for 2 people
- 78"-66" seats 4 comfortably
- 72"-90" perfect for 6
- 96"-108” gathers 8
- 102"-120” invite all 10
Note about length guidelines: These are approximate, and you can always cozy up or spread out to make it work for more or fewer guests. Whichever length you chose, deduct 8” from the total length to find your available seating space between the table legs (set 4" in from either edge). If you’d like legs moved to accommodate a specific seating arrangement, or just aren't quite sure what to choose, we’re here to help.
Recommended Table Depth
- 15-18” Works well for small kitchens, behind-sofa dining, or against a wall or window. Perfect for tight spaces and one-sided seating.
- 24-30” Ideal for casual gatherings with drinks and light snacks. Or for a one-side workspace, with room for one laptop comfortably.
- 36+” Full-dining depth with plenty of room for plates and serving dishes, a spacious homework station, or gather-round game night.
